![]() Cereus peruvianus Harold Cooper, who took the picture, has had this plant for about 30 years; it’s now 5 ft 7 in (170 cm) high and first came into bloom 3 years ago. The flowers appear in the second half of July and this is the first year that the plant has borne two flowers. That’s the good news. The not so good news is that I looked it up in the New Lexicon and learned that there is some doubt about the validity of the name. On the other hand, what’s in a name?
