Lithops

Lithops selection box

A selection of Lithops seedlings. Perhaps you would like to try to identify them? A clue is that eleven species are represented in a mixture of subspecies and cultivars. The answers will be in the March 2008 Newsletter.

Another year in the life of Macclesfield and East Cheshire Branch and one with all kinds of ups and downs. We lost one or two members and were delighted to gain some new ones. A mild winter and lower heating costs than we might have feared, a good spring, a dismal summer, a nice autumn and the coming winter? Well? Pretty wet so far. A great variety of weather and quite possibly the variety will be different in 2008. I suppose there is a possible benefit from our unpredictable weather in that different plants do better in different years. We had the frustration of a cancelled Show and the delight over our performance at Tatton. Hopefully we will be able to give good reports about both in 2008.

Might I suggest a New Year resolution, a double resolution in fact. I would appreciate more suggestions about our future branch programmes and I would absolutely love more contributions to our Newsletter. Over to you, folks.

Best wishes for Christmas and New Year

— Alasdair Glen
